The Rappahannock News is a living mirror of our times, really, the printed memory of day to day events from which our town history will be written.
Barbara was proud of our town and our paper. She was a friend to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by all of her friends throughout the community.
Her spirit will live on and continue to touch each of us in many ways, as we go day to day with our memories of her in our hearts. Barbara Wayland is a legacy we will always treasure.

continues to be rampant in the streets. People are still starving, homeless, and dying.
When the Iraqi people are safe in their homes with water to drink, food to eat, and clothes for their children, then it will be appropriate to say that we find ourselves in victory. But not until then.
I urge readers and media outlets to use the word “victory” cautiously and judiciously. Although much of the military action is waning, we will not know victory without first going through the process of rebuilding Iraq and its government.
