Having lived in the D.C. area most of his life, and having been trained at the Corcoran School of Art (B.F.A), Mullany often explores the subject matter of history, politics and society.

He takes traditional subjects and puts then into his vision of life in both landscapes and his more fanciful paintings, often injecting wry humor.
