Appraisal Technician

The Department of Financial Services is seeking a strong team member with primary responsibilities as part of the Assessor's Office Suburban Appraisal Team to work with various real property assessment and tax programs. Provides support to the appraisal staff with maintenance of records, including data maintenance and use of MR1S system. Conducts fair market valuation and land use assessment activities that include assisting, interviewing and counseling the public with technical aspects of appraisals, technical program enrollment criteria and land use assessment value procedures. Coordinates and provides transmittal assistance and eligibility analysis to taxpayers, County officials, County departments and public agencies. Conducts preliminary review of applications to ensure conformance with Virginia code. Analyzes data using State Land Use Evaluation Advisory Committee (SLEAC) Standards to calculate and levy deferred tax. Maintains statistical rollback data to provide monthly accounting reports. Knowledge of real property appraisal and tax programs related to fair market valuations and land use assessments preferred. Requires any combinatuTn of experience and education equivalent to an Associate’s degree and two yeat related work experience Must possess good computer and mathematical skills.
