0 Fair COMPENSATION for teachers is money well spent - consider the FACTS: • Over 40% of the proposed budget increase is for employee compensation, • Over 25% of the increase is caused by the rising cost of health insurance benefits. • This compensation increase will keep the gap in salaries between Rappahannock and other counties from becoming greater. • Low salaries encourage teachers to go elsewhere. We lose our best and brightest. • Constant turnover ot teachers results in lower quality classroom instruction which increases the chance that our schools will not meet federal and state performance standards. • If we don’t meet performance standards, our federal and state funding will be jeopardized.
