School Board candidate Ken Marlor paced nervously from one end of the room to the other. Meanwhile, his opponent, Sharon Kilpatrick, stood in a circle chatting with friends. , They and everyone in attendance at Tuesday evening's School Board meeting were anxious to learn which candidate would be nominated to fill the Stonewall-Hawthome seat left empty by the death of long-time board member E. Franklin Warner.
"This board is supposed to make all the hard decisions," School Board Chairman Wesley Mills said before members announced their choice. He said this was what Warner had often stated and was especially applicable now.
In the end the decision was in favor of Kilpatrick.
