revealed she delivered the petitions to Brown without the required notary acknowledgement, according to these documents.
On one of the petitions Brown received that had been signed by Huff, another person later signed it without being in the presence of Huff.
Brown allegedly took both petitions to a notary public "who even though she knew she was not supposed to and so informed Tbdd Brown, signed both petitions as if Hope Huff had sworn to the petitions in front of her," according to papers in the Registrar's Office.
"I don't have any information Hope Huff did anything wrong," said Commonwealth's Attorney Peter Luke.
As for the notary, Luke said he is moving toward having her notary commission revoked. He said he is not going to press criminal charges.
The notary is Karen Williams of the Chester Gap/ Huntly area. Luke stressed it is not the Karen Williams of the Flint Hill/Ben Venue area who teaches at the Rappahannock County schools.
When a reporter looked at Brown's file in the registrar's office Brown had left unanswered two questions on an Economic Interest Report required by candidates to complete.
