“We use this counter as a classroom.” said Kim Duty, marketing manager for Farfelu. “(We ask) what do you like, what don’t you like? We try to educate our customers so that they are comfortable around wine.”
“I'm a wine lover myself.” Osborne added, "and our wine is a very balanced, grown-up wine. ‘Serious wine for unserious people,’ we say.”
Osborne explained that Farfelu means “eccentric” in Old French. The name reflects the challenges she and her husband faced when they bought the place.
“We have joked about buying a funny farm,” she said.
Yet, in spite of three years of whirlwind activity to get the winery up to speed, Osborne said she can’t think of something else she’d rather be doing.
