not otherwise stop tor groceries.

The Sperryville Comer Store is taking a similar approach. Andy and Dana Thompson purchased the store three years ago. Thompson stated that when he and his wife found the property they thought it was a “quaint country store in need of some repair.'’ They felt that it “needed to have somie of its glory days restored.” r\.

The couple has made Extensive renovations in order to accomplish this, using much of the store that was formerly used as storage space.

The Comer Store is now home not only to the traditional grocery store, but also a boutique, which features a wide array of women’s clothing. In addition, they are in the process of creating a grill style restaurant to be opened by this fall. The restaurant will feature items such as steaks, chicken and bratwursts.

Their goal, Thompson explained, is not only to bring in more customers but to create something that will “be good for the community.”

Settle’s and Sperryville’s Comer Store are prime examples of one-stop shopping served up in a uniquely Rappahannock style. “It’s still personal,” Settle said, “and that’s the great part out here.”
