Even though I still write a weekly column, I no longer have to engage in any such pretense. When the stories appear about new laws, most of them will probably be surprises to me. I will be directly affected by one since I am presently a member of the Virginia Charitable Gaming Commission but the commission is being abolished and will be replaced by a Department of Charitable Gaming. This will mean that the Governor will have to appoint nine members of a Board of Charitable Gaming and can naturally appoint whomever he pleases.
I might add that while charitable gaming control is not something most folks are familiar with, that such charitable gaming as bingo, pull tabs, raffles and the like take
