Eastham, Jr. “Alene” of Front Royal, and Mrs. Philip Bird Eastham “Helen” of Warrenton, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held July 1 at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jennings W. Hobson III officiating. Interment was private at the old graveyard on the Ben Venue Farm.

Mary J. Armistead
Sperryville native
Mary Jean Armistead, 76, of Sperryville died June 23 at Fauquier Hospital.
She was born June 25, 1926 in South Paris. Maine to the late Harold Gilbert Shaw and Marion Simpson Shaw.
Mrs. Armistead began her nursing studies at the University of Maine and completed her training in Atlanta, Ga. She later became a homemaker and caretaker to her husband whom she married Nov. 18 1947.
She is survived by her husband, Reginald Gray Armistead, Sr., a son, Reg Armistead and a daughter, Pamela Wallin, both from Fairfax.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Harold Shaw, Jr. of South Paris, Maine and Murray E. Shaw of Chambersburg, Pa. and five grandchildren.
A funeral service was held June 26 at SperryviRe~Upited Methodist Church with Pastor Merlin Shorb officiating. Interment followed in Culpeper National Cemetery.

Merril A. Kiser
Native of Amissville
Merril Austin Kiser, 83, of Amissville died on June 24 at Fauquier Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1920 in Kentuck, W. Va. to the late Austin Kiser and Ada Savage Kiser.
Mr. Kiser was a U S. Army veteran and served with the 9th infantry in World War II. He received many commendations and awards including the Bronze Star and Silver Star. He was a past master of the Concord Lodge #307 A. F. & A. M. He retired from NSA.
