In a letter dated June 15 addressed to National Park Bill Whalen, Service Director Burton asked for written confirmation that further processing of the proposed exchange will be halted until the House Subcommittee has an opportunity to review and comment on the action contemplated.
Previously, questions had been raised as to whether the exchange violated both Virginia and federal law. From Burton’s letter, it appears that additional regulations regarding park boundary changes have been ignored.

Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly began construction Monday of a new primary wing which will house the school’s pre-school, kindergarten and grades one and two. According to school administrator William Lynn, the new structure is necessitated by the school’s burgeoning enrollment, which will exceed 200 next year in the primary grades through grade 10.
