We are now facing new and serious pressures on three borders and within our borders by development and the basic document used to guide us for the next five years requires a strengthening of those aspects to enable the county to remain as we intend.
At previous meetings, the commissioners have heard comments urging them to take care not to overly restrict property owners’ rights and to consider how we use and protect our natural resources as well as preserve historic structures and places.
Others commented on how important it is to remember that the county is here for the people to live and work.
Elders are concerned about what will be for their children: the schools, work opportunities, costs of living, owning land, their way of life.
This final meeting with the commissioners affords all who have not yet spoken to do so in an informal discussion atmosphere.
Written statements are readily accepted but not a requirement as a record of the comments is made for future review by the commissioners. Should citizens prefer, written statements may be forwarded to the county administrator at any time for inclusion in the record.
