mer town resident Louise van Dort who suggested to him that a four-way stop at Fodderstack Road and Harris Hollow Road would require motorists to slow down sooner as they approach town. She also suggested a four-way stop for Main Street at the intersection of Porter Street. The Warren Avenue entrance to Washington could have a warning sign that the speed limit is radar enforced.
In the letter to VDOT, Sherertz said it may be that the "signing solution . . . would resolve the majority of these speeding complaints should the data indicate a high percentage of violations."
In the interview, Sherertz said, "I want to have some data to look at."
In the meantime, "we are going to continue our enforcement effort," he said.
From May 19 to June 11 his office began "an enhanced enforcement effort" county wide after obtaining a DMV grant to offer overtime to deputies. The program resulted in 95 citations, he said, 15 of which were issued in the town.
