Eastham, Sr.

Horseman and farmer William Guerrant (Dunny) Eastham, Sr. died June 1 at his home, Red Hill, near Ben Venue. He was bom April 17, 1918 at Locust Hill, the Eastham family home in Flint Hill to the late Edwin Marion Eastham and Fannie Pullen Eastham Mr. Eastham graduated from Washington High School and served in World War II in the 124th Calvary, which was stationed at Fort Riley Kansas. The 124 Calvary was shipped to Burma and India to open the Burma Road during the war which was done with horses and mules. After his military service, he married Jacqueline Miller Massie and begpm to farm at Red Hill. Mr. Eastham was known especially lor his ability with horses and raised and sold many horses locally and throughout the United States. He was a former member of the Rappahannock Hunt and a member of the Flint Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. Eastham is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Massie Eastham, one son, William Guerrant Eastham, Jr., and two daughters, Lizzie Hamilton Eastham and Marion Eastham Sharp. Additional survivors include four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Edwin Marion Eastham, Phillip Byrd Eastham, Thomas Lindsay Eastham and Dabney McGhee Eastham and two sisters, Fisher Eastham Burford and Francis Eastham Bradford. Antonia M. Toth Wakefield honors graduate Antonia Margaret Tbth, 20, of Front Royal, formerly of Millinocket, Maine died May 24 at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va. She was bom Nov. 19, 1983 in Portland, Maine, daughter of Dr. Anthony Martin Tbth and Priscilla Smith Tbth of Front Royal. Ms. Tbth was a student at Virginia Tech in Pamplin College majoring in marketing and hotel and tourism management. She was employed by the The Inn at Little Washington. She was an honors graduate of Wakefield County Day School class of 2002, where she was selected to be Salutatoriain. She was a member of its Key Club, Junior Classical League, a student member of the Organization of American States, and was active in school sports where she lettered in volleyball, lacrosse, and soccer. She had been a volunteer at Warren Memorial Hospital. She is survived by one brother, Alexander Smith Tbth and one sister, Catriona Carr Tbth both of Front Royal. Additional survivors include her grandfather and stepgrandmother both of Winslow, Maine and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service was held May 29 at Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly, with the Rev. Dr. Patrick Seymour officiating. Interment was in the Shenandoah Memorial Park in Winchester. Jessie V. Whorton Castleton resident Jessie Virginia Whorton, 66, of Castleton died May 26 at Culpeper Regional Hospital. She was bom March 7,1938 in Rappahannock County to John Edward Jenkins and Barbara Jane Jenkins. Mrs. Whorton eryoyed gardening.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Stanley Whorton, and two children, Virginia Darlene Compton and her husband, Ray Thomas of Castleton and Judy Coates and her husband, Chuck of Culpeper. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, two brothers, John Hemy Jenkins and his wife; Kaye and Edward Clayton Jenkins and his wife, Sandra. She was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Woodard, and a brother, Charles Jenkins. A funeral service was held May 29 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Pastor Carl Menefee officiating. Interment was in Washington Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1747, Culpeper, VA 22701. William Hubben Family in Washington William “Will” Hubben, 49, died May 27 in El Cerrito, Ca., after living with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) for six years. He was bom in Alexandria, Va., on June 29,1954. During his illness he counseled others with ALS, and promoted awareness for more stem cell research as the source of a cure. He also raised funds for the ALS/TDF Foundation (ALS Therapy Development Foundation), where there is a William Hubben Memorial Fund. Mr. Hubben had graduated from the University of. California at Berkeley, and worked for many years aa a manager in the lighting industry, starting with General Electric. He is survived by his wife Mary Baldridge Hubben, of El Cerrito, Ca.; a sister, Julie Louise Batten, of Olympia Wash.; an older brother, Henry Hubben, of Minneapolis Minn.; two half-sisters, Anne Hubben of New York City, and Kate Hubben of Cleveland Ohio; and his mother, Lois Manookian of Washington.
