views can be canvassed privately, off the record, by the superintendent or the School Board? The same goes for parents who don’t regularly show up at School Board meetings.

Controlling

school costs

Our superintendent Bob Chappell trimmed millions off the Page County school budget where he was previously. Good. He is a cost cutter. Why shouldn’t the School Board require him to look each year for ways to save money. Surely in a $10 million school budget that consumes 80 cents of each local tax dollar, there are ways to save money without affecting core educational programs. He believes that a school is not about buildings, rather what goes on inside them. He has heartily endorsed the Effective Schools Program for school improvement. Good.
