Rappahannock “Seniors” Bob Settle, Bill Settle, Carroll Settle and Dan Lewis went to Virginia Beach on May 15 to participate in the 2004 Virginia Senior Games in 3 on 3 basketball.

The men drove down in Bob’s 1973 Pontiac convertible with the top down, absorbing a lot of wind and sun during the five hour trip. There was a lot of traffic.

The games are like the Olympics where the winners of events receive gold, silver and bronze medals.

The “Seniors”, captained by Dan Lewis, participated in the 50 - 54 age group which had five teams entered from around the state. The ages are in five year increments from 50 to 85. The “Seniors” age group played a round robin then an elimination tournament going 2 - 2 in the round robin and third place over-all in the tournament.

They ended up winning a bronze medal.
