I was proud to be a part of

the first Rappahannock County High School Culinary Arts Gala “Dinner for the Hood” on May 22. This event was a shining example of what can be accomplished when we challenge high school students to do their very best.

Despite a myriad of other major events in the county that Saturday night, the event drew more than 100 people. Through ticket sales, advertising sales, donated auction and raffle items and cash donations we were able to raise money needed to install a gas line and purchase equipment to go beneath the commercial exhaust hood the Board of Supervisors agreed to fund earlier this month.

There are many people who contributed to the success of this event and my gratitude goes out to each and every one of them, but especially to the planning committee that has worked so diligently over the past several months.
