James Gannon, who attended as a member of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection urged that the commission investigate the intentions of the buyers who are now seeking property in Rappahannock. He said the commission should invite real estate agents and brokers to a public hearing so the commission can “better understand the pressure of the land prices.”
Bob Lander, also of the RLEP said the Comprehensive Plan itself sets out a chapter on how to do this research and planning.
Charles W. Strittmatter, a member of the commission, urged that his colleagues study Rappahannock’s villages— Amissville, Flint Hill, Sperryville, Chester Gap and Woodville— with an eye to settling clear boundaries and resolving whether villages need to engage professional planners to assist in preparing for the future.
