Public Notice:

Acceptable Waste at Landfill, Wire, Wire Fencing and Tree Stumps

The Rappahannock County Sanitary landfill will be unable to accept tree stumps and woven wire fencing (or other waste wire). Due to regulatory limits on burning and on storage space, property owners will need to dispose of stumps on their own property, or in a state approved “stump dump”. Wire fencing and wire products have caused a great deal of damage to operating equipment and the county contractors who remove recyclable metals have commenced excluding it from the material they will recycle. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
