There were just five or six baskets made up and distributed. Now the effort has grown to service more than 90 households - no one keeps track of exactly how many. For many years, the Ruritan and the United Methodist Church in Amissville carried out the Christmas giving. During the 1990s they were joined by the Amissville Baptist Church, the Bethel Baptist Church, and its neighbor, the Full Gospel Church of Amissville. And this year the Amissville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company joined, too.
