For those items just lying around the house that are just too good to throw out, but no longer needed, now there is a place to give them away.
Seeing giveaway posts popping up on Rappnet, the county’s Internet information system, Phil Rosemond of Washington decided to join the Freecycle network. He saw a brief news story on television one evening and became the moderator of Rappahannock Freecycle.
As moderator, Rosemond spends a few hours each week keeping up with the site, and feels it is a worthwhile project.
In a day and time when so much is disposable, Freecycle is a way for people to give things away that they no longer need instead of throwing them away. Not only is this environmentally sound, but some items can be used as a tax write-off.
