“I have communicated with Evan several times since the attack,” said Gibson on Dec. 27. “He called quite a few times on Christmas. His spirits are tom, but he’s trying his best to stay focused on other missions, and his job, as well as the other troops."
Asked what thoughts Byler might wish to share with the folks back home about the attack, Gibson replied. “Evan just wants to say that he was not the only one that did something good over there. It was a collaborative effort on the part of everyone in the mess hall.
“They responded quickly to what happened, to ensure that everyone was OK and to get the casualties taken care of as soon as possible,” she said.
