By today’s standards, the cinder track is outdated, so a new track must be constructed so that RCHS can hold competitive meets at home.
The second of six children born to William and Anna Spieker of Minnesota, Spieker found her love of running with her father and one of her sisters.
“Her daddy taught her to use tools, to farm and to run races,” her mother said, reminiscing about Spieker as a young girl.
Spieker also brought girls’ basketball back to Rappahannock County High School in the fall of 1972.
