I read somewhere that statistics show 50 percent of New Year’s resolutions are broken by the end of the first week of January. Supposedly that number rises to 90 percent by the end of February. I also read that many resolutions are broken because people either try to set goals that are unrealistically high or they attempt to make too many resolutions at one time.
After speaking informally with some Sperryville residents, I have come up with three resolutions that many would like to see for Sperryville as a community:
1. Put up a stop sign! The dangerous intersection that concerned citizens brought up at the Nov. 1 Board of Supervisors’ meeting is still dangerous and no action has yet been taken to remedy the situation.
2. Drivers slow down! Speeding continues to be a major problem on Matin Street. If drivers won’t make or keep this resolution, residents would like to see law enforcement handing out tickets to encourage folks to obey the speed limit.
