Horses helped by 4-H
Tally Ho and Pony Club

On November 16, 2005 members of the 4-H Tally Ho Horse and Pony Club of Rappahannock County set up their booth at the Chili Cook-off and band festival at Rappahannock High School with a cause in mind. Club members made stick horses out of mops, which they offered in exchange for donations. Stick horse races for children were also held. At the end of the day, Tally Ho had raised a grand total of $114. Members donated this money to benefit the animals affected by Hurricane Katrina. After considerable research, they were able to get in contact with the Rescue Ranch, a charitable organization in Louisiana fostering more than 64 horses, including many rescued in the aftermath of Katrina.
