According to Rexinger, Harvey’s son Sean, who does not know Rexinger, told him about “a new 10,000 square foot house that is about one minute from The Blue Rock, on a private road just before Blue Rock,” and recommended that Rexinger contact Gary Harvey to make a reservation.
“I didn’t move here to live next to a wedding chapel,” said Pat Choate, who has also uncovered some evidence against Harvey’s claims. Choate claims to have spoken to someone who slept at Greystone the night of Blue Rock’s New Year’s Eve party, despite having paid for a room at Blue Rock. Harvey admits that there was a private party at Greystone that night, but says that no one paid him to attend it or sleep in his home. So far, Choate has not spoken to this person about coming forward, but it wovild seem that such testimony would indicate that Harvey was indeed violating Rappahannock’s zoning ordinance.
For his part, Harvey believes that his neighbors would oppose his plans no matter what opining, “I call them my fan club.”
Harvey also pointed out that his projected plan would bring a great deal of needed tax revenue into the county, and that if he can complete his plans, he would put all his property into easements to protect it.
“I want people to see this place, to give them that peace. I don’t want to ruin it,” said Harvey.
