The award was presented to them by C. Richard Cranwell, Chair of the Democratic Party df Virginia and Jennifer McClellan, Vice Chair for Organization of the DPVA.

The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee was a finalist for the statewide Committee of the Year Award for jurisdictions with populations under 31,000.

The ceremony which took place earlier in February was attended by about 200 at the Richmond Marriot where the OPVA held its Central Comihittee Meeting in the morning and training sessions in the afternoon. Hank Gorfein is Rappahannock County’s representative on the Central Committee and the 7th District Committee.

The Gorfeins have been lifeltrng Democrats who are always at the core of any local activities. They have been representing the county at higher party levels, participating in candidate searches, acquiring signatures on candidate petitions, running for office, and sharing their political knowledge with the committee and candidates for office at the state senatorial and delegate offices and congressional offices. In committee meetings, they are the individuals who raise the questions that challenge members to think more deeply about the issues.
