The staff at DayBreak is well-equipped to meet the needs of area family members. They’re specially trained health and recreation professionals who make sure everyone is safe and well-occupied. Those who attend enjoy the specially-chosen activities, the secure and nurturing environment, the chance to make new friends, and the change of scenery. While their loved ones are at the program, caregivers have time for other things: work, errands, or simply relaxing.
Everyone knows that it helps to take a break from a demanding routine, but caregivers are finding another benefit. “You know, I thought this was about respite for me,” said the spouse of one of the participants, “but the interesting thing is that my husband began to change once he started going to the center. They do so much to keep his mind active, things I just don’t have the time to do. But most of all, I think it’s good for him just to spend time in a different environment.”
