“Transportation Session,” the Governor and the Senate pro pose diverting $180 million from transportation. All of this is coupled with millions in spending for new programs and pet projects like the Governor’s proposed Universal Pre-K Program.
The House of Delegates made difficult choices and it does propose a withdrawal from the rainy day fund, but it exhibited the discipline to forgo spending millions for new programs and initiatives As an optimist, it is my hope that House and Senate negotiators will resolve their differences in a timely manner. That should happen as long as the Governor is willing to put off the debate over his new spending initiatives until our revenues rebound.
