In addition they participate on RCDC committees as members or as chairs. They are the members that have erected candidate signs, managed mailings and voter databases, observed activities at county polling stations, organized teams for Relay for Life, participated in the 4H Chili Cook-oflf, rallied members to march in the community parades, staffed a booth at community events, worked at the committee yard sales, encouraged voter registration, and organized highway cleanups.
These combined activities serve to give the Democratic Party visibility and a large presence in the Rappahannock community. They have also created political awareness which appears to be a factor in the larger county voter turnout in recent elections. This ranks Rappahannock County with one of the highest percentage voter participation rates in the state.
The Gorfeins, as part of their award, received tickets to the hugely successful JeflersonJackson Dinner which featured Senate candidate Mark Warner and Presidential hopefuls Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
