have to be air-cured for several weeks. Shake as much dirt as possible off the clumps and hang them to dry in a shed or garage protected from rain.

After two or three weeks, retrieve the clumps from the drying shed, remove the peanut crop from the plants and clean the shells of any remaining dirt. The nuts may be eaten after three weeks of drying.

Some people roast the peanuts or boil them in the shell in salted water Even if you never eat a peanut from your garden, you can claim witness to their magical trip from airborne flower to subterranean nut.
