It was one of the best parties Amissville has seen in years. The tire hall was turned over this past Saturday night for a salute1 to one of Rappahannock County’s most popular and respected public servants. Capt. Jeff Brown of the Sheriff’s Office turned 60 on Thursday, the 5th of this month, and two nights later there was an elegant bash to mark his retirement.
Some 130 fojks, Brown’s family, close friends, fellow deputies - present and former - and many school teachers filled the seats. Brown’s boss, Sheriff Connie Smith, stood up to describe1 the captain as a “good husband, father, officer, instructor and valued part of our community.”
