Frances Dwyer Smoot, 70, of Culpeper died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on February 12,1938 in Rappahannock County to the late Robert and Edna Bowen Dwyer. Mrs. Smoot retired from C&P Telephone and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed collecting antiques and loved to shop.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, William “Bud” Smoot, two children. Debbie Sisk and her husband, Kenny of Ruckersville and Lisa Smoot of Culpeper, and one sister, Loretta “Red” Clater. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Louise Dwyer. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Elder Gary Utz officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Marshall Dwyer, Barry Atchison, Whitey Smoot, Gary Smoot. Brian Catts, and Todd Gooden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Culpeper Rescue Squad, PO.
