His observations during his 18-year practice in Montgomery County, and his visits to more than 300 schools worldwide, are the bases for his books Why Gender Matters and Boys Adrift. His third book, about girls, will be published next year. He has been a guest on the TODAY show, on the PBS Lehrer News Hour, on CNN, and in the studio for the Diane Rehm Show. His consistent message is that a better understanding of gender differences can break down gender stereotypes and broaden educational horizons for girls and boys.
