Claudia, 60, Rappahannock News’ 2008 Citizen of the Year, passed away peacefully in her sleep with her friend, Jay Brown, at her side on Monday morning at Jackson House, an assisted living facility in Scrabble.
“She was comfortable,” said Brown.
Claudia told her long time friend, Ray Gooch, attorney and former towrr council member, that her father had been in the military and their family had traveled around the world. “She said it wasn’t until she came to Washington in 2000 that she felt a connection to a place,” said Gooch.
