If memories are pictures of happy unguarded moments, of the mountains in clear spring air, hushed landscapes blanketed in virgin snow, tawny leaves in the gloaming fall forest, then photojournalist Richard Lykes left those in abundance.
Richard, his identical twin brother Roy by his side, died at 8:15 yesterday morning in a Silver Spring, Md. nursing home. Three days before, they celebrated their 71 years together.
“He’s going to be terribly missed," said Roy, “and I’m so happy I was wjth him at the moment.”
Richard had “fought and fought and fought” for five grueling months after a heart operatiop»*to repair the outer lining of his heart^nduring set-backs and recovering, but each time a little more strength was sapped from his body, said Roy.
