A proposed constitutional amendment to ban compulsory union membership was rejected by the Senate Privileges and Elections Committee. The bill, which was previously approved by the state House of Delegates, would have made it illegal to require workers to join a union. Voter registration
Two Senate bills that aim to make voter registration easier for students were approved unanimously by a House committee. If the legislation becomes law, students could use school or home addresses to register to vote. The bills will go to the full House for consideration.
