George Robert iFincham

Funeral services were held at the Pentaeostal church at Nethers Mills Tuesday, February 14, at 2 o’clock with the Rev. R. H. Scroggins, pastor of the church, officiating.

Pallbearers were Meade Nichols, George Jenkins, G. M. Jen7 .. kins, Jaines Fincham, and Bert ' Jenkins.

A son of the late Noah Fincham and Ella Fincham of Woodville, George Robert Fincham i = survived by his wife, two daughters, Alice and Shirley, at home, and a son at Lynchburg, three brothers and several sisters.

Prefacing his definite outlined plan with the opinion that Rappahannock’s share of the $45000,000 'Battle school fund would be about $00,000, he recommended :

Five primary schools, Amissville, Washington and Flint Hill, with Belle Meade and Woodville grades 1 and 2; two elementary schools, SrleVryville and Flint Hill: and one high school. This would necessitate the building of a $100,000 elementary school at Flint Hill.

Before the meeting adjourned, there was a discussion of the financial jjsllity of the county toward school improvement.

Through questions and answers,it was brought out that the school debt at present was $83,000, $30,000 of which had been added in the past few years. After lOS^, stated Mr. Casque, the debt would be retired at the rate of $2000 per year.

One gentleman suggested that since the transportation rate per child per year was $18.43, it might be cheaper to place more teachers in outlying communities and avoid this expense.

Mrs. E. T./Cox apologized to the visitipjj./committeemen for" any discomforture caused them by the citizens present, and after a suggestion that the late hour was inconvenient to some of the visitors, the meeting ended.
