“Rogue*’ Regiment Is
Thrilling New Film
“Rogues’ Regiment,” is heralded as a fast-paced adventure film with a story that parallels the hunt by military intelligence units for Martin Bormann, last of the high-ranking Nazi war criminals still not brought to trial for wartime atrocities.
The Universal - International picture, will open Monday at the Fairfax Theatre in Culpeper.
Dick Powell portrays the leading role of ah American Army officer who leads the search for 'Bormann, called Bruner in the film. Marta Toren, Swedish-born beauty who made her screen debut in “Casbah,” and Vincent Price are other stars of the film.
Stephen McNally, vital new personality from the stage, enacts the Nazi fugitive.
The story is as current as today’s headlines, and centers around the modern French Foreign Legion. The Legion, in the past has been the basis for many romantic and colorful films.
The locale is Indo-China and the plot is backgrounded by the Viet Nam rebellion against the French government. Battles in tropical swamps between LegionrtMires and guerrilas are high-* lights.
“Rogues’ Regiment” was directed by. Robert Florey and produced by Robert Buckner, producer of (^Life With Father.” Buckner and Florey wrote the original story. Seen in the imposing cast are such well-knowns as Carol Thurston and Edgar Barrier.
And we might add that the welfare department’s funds are a combination of federal, state, and local funds and if their budget is reduced by $1000, roughly $4000 will be lost in federal-state grants. Is this economy?
