Washington, leaving Cornwallis unprotected at Yorktowjk And before he realized what was taking place . . . Washington by a stroke of genius slipped away with his army and was on the way to Virginia. By late September he had his American and French armies at Yorktown and had set the stage for the final scene. You know .the rest: Cornwallis saw that he had been outgeneraled so he submitted to the inevitable leaving America to rejoice—not that a foe had fallen—but that a new nation hail been born at Yorktown.
To have enacted—Tn this pageant in 1931—scenes and events which took place so many years ago and to have brought to light the real truths of history and thecaliber of the men who made this history—makes us stop and wonoer. \\ under what is happening to America in this year of 1950
