Boy Scouts Organize
A county troop with patrols in Washington, Flint Hill, and Sperryville is being organized by Boy Scout National Headquarters.
Allen Johnson, is Scoutmaster, with assistant scoutmasters in Flint Hill and Sperryville in charge of the Scouts there.
Any boy between the ages of 12 and 16 is urged to join this orgari.ization. Not only do you receive a thorough training, but you also have loads of fun.
Organizing a Boy Scout trffop is a step forward but let's go a little further. “How about a girl Scout troop?’’ Come on girls, it’s up to you!
Pep Meeting
The auditorium rocked with - hearty yells last Friday morning as the first official pep meeting of the year was conducted by . cheerleaders Lucy Mae, Lois W., Rosie Mae and Lois R. For a half hour the high school pupils cheered for the Panthers. The basketball players were called up by Coach Link, who reminded the pupils that these players represent W.H.S. in many towns.
The pep meeting seems to have succeeded in its purpose as the Panthers came up with a double victory over Aldie High on Friday night.
Since this was the last home game for three senior girls, a special effort was made by them. Jo Ellen Worth was high scorer with 23 points. Eloise Estes and Phyllis Hudson with 'beautiful passwork played a terriffic game.
The Panther guards showed outstanding skill when they continuously intercepted the passes of the Aldie forwards.
The game ended with the score 33-29.
The Panther boys led Aldie from the first. By ex.client teamwork our players ended the game with a score of 39-19.
Edwin Scroggins was high scorer with 11 points.
