Tommy Swindler Signed
By St. Louis Browns
Tommy Swindler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Swindler of Brentwood, Md., has been signed by the St. I.ouis Browns, American League ball club as a pitcher. He will leave in March for their Spring Training Camp at Pine Bluff, Arkansas. When he finishes spring training he will go to Appleton, Wisconsin or to California. Three other major league ball clubs were also interested in him. Tommy started school in Sperryville, moving later to Cottage City, Md., where he attended Cottage City Elementary School. He gradrated in January from Bell Vocational High School in Washington, D. C. Tommy's grandmothers, Mrs. O. B. Swindler and Mrs. Annie G. Bruce reside in Sperryville.
Honored At Tea-Shower
A miscellaneous shower was given on Friday afternoon from 3-5 in the dining room of the Lee Highway Hotel by the ladies of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church and the Auxiliary to Emmanuel Episcopal church, honoring Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Aylor Jr. Tea was served to forty-five geests. Mr. and Mrs. Aylor are moving into the cottage owned, by W. C. Atkins.
Hunt Club To Meet
The Rappahannock Hunt Club will hold'•a joint meet with the Old Dominion Hunt Club at Fletcher’s Double Gates at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday, February 22. A hunt breakfast will be held at Mt. Prospect, the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Miller at the conclusion of the hunt.
