Mental Health Week
In a statement issued recently, Governor John S. Battle approved the observance of Mental Health Week, April 23-29. “I am pleased to commend this observance to all citizens of the Commonwealth, because full understanding of mentarl health emphasizes afresh the importance of community effort in this field.
“Every individual deserves the opportunity to live happily and productively with other individuals. The 12,000 patients now in our State mental hospitals are persons who have been unable to find such conditions for themselves; their failure to make a reasonable degree of adjustment to their community life places upon the Commonwealth the responsibility for their care.
