Team Wins Fourth Place
Competing against 13 top-notch teams from portions of four .-tales, the Northern Virginia Power Company Luray team finished in fourth place in the annual Potomac Edison System Bowling Tournament held n Hagerstown, old., on April 21.
A surprisingly strong Winchester team won the roll-off with a total of 1,634 pins, ,\ hile Potomac Edison Cumberland bowlers were second \v,th. 1,642, and Hagerstown General Office team was third with 1,641. L.,ray’s team was fourth with 1,638.
Pricing the local Northern Virginia Power Company bowlers was Elmer Hinton, who scored a three game tournament total of 336. Other Luray team members and their scores are as follows: Richard Sheetz (captain), 308; Buddy Bell, 315; Fred Haines, 234; Ken Nichols, 320; Floyd Price, 324; and Howard Stine, 283.
The high set for the tournament was made by Burlyn Moore of Winchester With a 380.
I/i the Potomac Edison Women’s Tournament,, held at the same time, a comtyned girls’ team from Winchester and Luray took third place with 1,394.
Hagerstown General Office girls of the Potomac Edison Company won the 'Women’s Division with a score of 1,406, while Fredrick General Office girls were second with 1,399.
Frances Grisman of the Winchester-Luray Northern Virginia Power Company team was high scorer for that squad. Her 301 led the local girl bowlers, while Lucille Pope was second with 291.
Other team members and their scores are as follows: L. A. Jennings, 288; Nora Chrisman, 229; Nellie Sedwick, 250; and Elsye Long, 264. The leading five scores counted for tournament honors.
