Student Co-operative
Association Hold Meeting
The Student Co-operative Association, of the elementary students from Warren and Rappahannock county schools met in Sperryville Friday for their annual meeting. The topic of discussion was “Freedom To Grow.” The sub topics were:
1. Who is “a good citizen?
2. How does S.C.A. help to develop a good citizen?
3. In what ways can the home help in developing a good citizen?
The group was divided into two round-table discission groups led by Mr, Jordan of Warre'n county and Mr. Stoutamyer of Flint Hill School.
Representatives from our school ‘ were 5th grade, Danny Link and Annie Dodson; 6th grade Henry Zinn, Mabel Hawkins, and Rebecca Jones; 7th grade, Carlyle Lea, Dickie Atkins and Maude Jenkins.
Carlyle Lea was elected to go to our S.C.A. district meeting.
The group was intertained by Mrs. Caban, leading the audience in singing; Mr. Casque, giving a talk on citizenship; a playlet, “Melody Ranch” by 3rd grade of Spei ryville school, and a dance by Betty Johnson.
Lunch was servd and the group was dismissed at 1:00 p.m.
Senior Play Is Cast
Work has begun on the Senior play—-“Calling All Girls,” directed by Mrs. Etta B. Miller.
The play, a farce in three acts, by Vivian Mayo, requires a ca3t iif four men and eight women. The players are as follows:
David Ricker — a quiet young man with a hobby—Buddy Goode.
George Ricker—his wealthy uncle—Junior Martin.
Polly Ricker—his adoring aunt, one of the “Ricker Girls”—-Gladys Reid.
Molly Ricker—another aunt— Lois Utz.
Dolly R/cker—still another aunt —Dorothy Print z.Starr
Mayfield—an orphan looking for work—Mary Burke.
Rita Davis—A girl looking for a husband—Mary Kay Fincham.
Norma Linden — also looking for a husband — Jeanne WoodwarcT.
Masie Merrill—another searcher for a husband—Jo Ellen Worth
Bethie Brown — a determined husband hunter—Lucy Mae Smith.
Julius Johnson—a cheerful undertaker—Winfrey Burke.
James Hilton—a useful lawyer —Jack Smith.
Vergie Ree Dodson and Lillian Sealock act as hostesses.
The play will be presented on Friday, May 12.

Helen Zinn and Lpland Walter were chosen as outstanding juniors to go to Girls’-Boys’ State, conducted at VPI one week during the summer.
