By a vote of 4-1, the Board of Supervisors approved a local health department at the meeting Wednesday, when five members were present, Henry Wood being the one absent member.
$1500 is the sum now available for a county health nurse.
When the department begins work, there will be a full time nurse , a part-time sanitation officer, service of a doctor whenever needed, and a full-time clerk to work in an office located in the county. In case of an epidemic, the state department will supply any additional nurses; or other help needed. This health department should begin operation within six months.
Dr. J. C. Neale, Jr., of the state health department, was present at the meeting and talked with the Board of Supervisors on the formation of a local health department for Rappahannock, Fauquier, and Prince William counties, jointly. When funds are ^limited, there Is Co-operation 'of several adjoining counties in order to furnish the health department benefits to small counties. * Resident Engineer Richard Worthington of the highway department, replacing former Engineer J. E. Johnson, appeared before the board.
A committee was appointed to purchase furniture for the jury room at the Courthouse.
A motion, made by W. C. Campbell, was carried authorising the placing of screens in the windows of the court room.
