Town Council Hold*
Final Meeting Tonight
The Washington Town Council wiU hold its fin&L meeting hi the Courthouse tonight, August 3, at 8 o’clock. This is the ‘Maine duck" session for the men, as the next scheduled meeting, first Thursday in September, will be in charge of the women.
Mayor William F. Moffett, Jr., will preside at this evening’s meeting. Council members are C. T.i Bruce, Upton G. Weakley, D. C. Updike, H. T. Updike, L. J. Turner, and C. E. Giles.
NEWS PROUDLY USES GIFT
The hand-set heads appearing on the front page of this issue were set in a composing stick formerly used by Mr. George E. Cary, editor of Rappahannock’s former paper, “The Blue Ridge Guide." Mr. Cary’s son, E. B. Cary, presented the stick as a gift to the printers at Rappahannock News, and it is with great pride that the ' ick is being used.
Mr. Card’s name is spoken with reverence^ ai.d the county’s opinion of the oiitor is readily expressed, “He was a fine man and a thorough gentleman.”- - •
The printers at Rappahannock News will take pleasure in exhibiting the composing stick to anyone who is interested in seeing it. The piece of equipment shows that many a line of type has been set by its use, but it is still in excellent Working order.
'Plastic Party' Postponed
Due to a misunderstanding the “Plastic Party”, to have been held by the W.S.C.S. of Washington Methodist church, last Friday, was not held, but watch this paper next iwoek for another date set for this party.
