Lions
The regular sapper meeting of the,Rappahannock Lions was held Wednesday night, September 26, at Hampton Inn. This was a particularly noteworthy meeting in that the local club was honored by the presence of the District Governor, Lion William Hix. Lio® Hix's home club is Annandale but since being elected to the office of District Governor we feel that his identity with Lionism is given a much broader scope. He now belongs to all the clubs in 24 A.
Lion President Hix gave a very comprehensive and informative talk on the organization of Lions International. This we feel, was very necessary for all of us and particularly the newer members.
Lion Hix was introduced by our Zone Chairman Lion Jones from Culpeper. We are always pleased to welcome our friends from nearby clubs and this occasion made it particularly true. Lion Atwood from Annandale was also welcomed by the local club.
All members were reminded to inform the public and friends that it was soon going to be Fruit Cake time and that, I’m sure, is welcomed news for all. Where else are such delicious cakes available except through your Lions club?
Lion Ralph Qowsie and lion Stuart were selected to attend the fall, conference at Woodstock October 5th and 6th.

Social security is playing an important role in family planning according to Mrs, Hazel F. Daly, manager at the Winchester District Office of the Social Security Administration. People are becoming more aware of benefits payable to retired workers, their families and to families of deceased workers; however, Mrs. Daly said that there are many families in this area who are not fully informed regarding their rights under the social security law.
Mrs. Elizabeth Page, Field Representative of the Winchester Office, visits Washington in the County Courthouse on second Wednesdays.' Her office hours are from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
