Jamaicans have lived up to

They recently voted against membership in the West Indies Federation, a union of 10 British island colonies stretching in an arc across the Caribbean from Jamaica to Trinidad.
The Federation was organized in 1958. It was scheduled to receive full independence in May, 1962, but Jamaica’s action places the future of the union in doubt.
With 1,600,000 inhabitants and 4,400 square miles, Jamaica woul<| have provided half the population and half the land area of the Federation, the National Geographic Society says. Economy Spurts
