Lester Yaeger Hawkins Lester Yaeger Hawkins, 88 well-known fanner of the Slate Mills section, died Tuesday night, September 25, at Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton.
Mr. Hawkins, born in Rappahannock and a life long resident, was the son of George W. and Annie Eliza Burke Hawkins* He was a deacon in Slate Mills Baptist Church. He is survived by one brother, Amos Hawkins of Washington, D.C., and eight nieces and nephews, Mrs. Ashby Wavland of Washington, George W. Hawkins of Sperryville, Joseph Hawkins of Boston, Amos Hawkins of Nokesville, Lester Hawkins of Alexandria, Mrs. Cecil Carder of Thailand, Mrs. Joe Schober of New York and Mrs. Carroll Bayne of Deland, Fla.
The Rev. Dewey Underwood, pastor of Novum and Slate Mills Baptist churches conducted a funeral service from Clore’s Funeral Home in Culpeper Friday. September 28, with interment in Fairview cemetery.
